ANZAC Day Commemorations

Capella State School ANZAC Day Commemorations, 2017

Capella State School has always taken great pride in remembering those who have paved the way for our freedom. This year was no different, the students, teachers and other Capella State School community members joined together on Monday the 24th April to commemorate ANZAC Day. Each class presented a short piece such as a poem, song or story which helped us to remember and reflect of the sacrifices that have been made to protect our way of life. It was great seeing so many parents and community members at our service. We would also like to thank our guest speaker Mr Jeff Wilmott who talked about his time in the army.

On the 25th April, we were able to join in the community march and service. It was fantastic to see many of our students there representing our small school. Lilah Otto and Georgia Hanson read a poem and the school’s choir presents the song 100 Years the Anzac during the community service.  The respect shown by our students is to be commended. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who came together to commemorate this special day.
