Capella Pioneer Village

21/08/2013

On Friday 16 August, the Year 4 students went on an excursion to the Capella Pioneer Village to discover what life was like last century.  Mr Plunkett and Mr Russell kindly shared their knowledge about the hard life of shearing and how wool was classified, how to shear a sheep and how the wool bales were made.  Mr White showed us how a store was run on a big property and the different types of commonly used items including saws,  meat grinders, and even a pack horse.  Mrs Brimblecombe showed us through the homestead talking about how the families lived, and how they  entertained themselves.  The Year 4 class learnt a lot from their excursion, even commenting on how different their lives are now and how they wouldn’t be able to survive without the modern luxuries that they have today.
